Purple Frills

After seeing so many beautiful ruffle dresses in stores and on sewing blogs, I realized I needed one.
I found some clearance fabric for $2.50/yard and just jumped into making this little dress without a pattern. The top and skirt were two separate pieces that I sewed together after gathering the bottom substantially. Once it was sewn together I made a cinched waist by sewing elastic thread near the seam a couple times. It is super comfortable, but I think if I were to make another, I would make longer ruffles at the neck.
(purple ruffle dress, lavender drapey cardigan, target belt-$16.99, stoop sale boots-$4.00)
While it might be a little too chilly to wear it alone, I love how easy it is to throw on with cardigans and leggings. All in all, I would call it a successful experiment.

I love the dress and the sweater! If I'm anywhere near you when we move back I may have to pay you to teach me to sew.

I love it! The color is great! Isn't it funny how belts always are the most expensive parts!?

Lovely dress, did you happen to make notes on how you made it? I might give it a try, you look so cute in it.

Oh my goodness, this is so beautiful!!!

Your boots were only $4.00?? I would faint if I found a pair of boots as cute as those for under $50!
